Where is Oak Grove, Louisiana?

It's the parish seat of West Carroll Parish in Northeast Louisiana not far from the Arkansas border. In fact, it's 109 miles northwest of Jackson, Ms.  Not too hard to find, just north of Pioneer, LA on LA17.

I grew up in Richland Parish about 55 miles away and remember Oak Grove for two things: great high school football teams and Tony Joe White!

The Swamp Fox at 67

At 67, White still has that swamp groove.

I must confess I never heard of Joe White, he sounds like an accomplished song writer! Eddie Rabbit got his big break after writing several big hits for Elvis, my favorite Kentucky Rain.

I am a fan of the "Swamp Fox"...his rendition of "Rainy Night In Georgia" (above)is the absolute best and readily shows why he is an enduring talent. Besides that I grew up pretty close to Jackson myself so we may be cousins! Thanks for highlighting Tony Joe! WB
